It is definitely worth travelling the 15 kilometres from Vulcano Porto, all across the island, to reach this historic, family-run trattoria, overlooking the sea in the small hamlet of Gelso. Founded by our great-grandparents in 1958, the same family still preserves its identity today, faithfully upholding the Aeolian tradition through authentic, aromatic cuisine deeply rooted in the island’s local heritage: must-try dishes include the raw seafood platters, the pasta dishes – from the classic ‘alla Norma’ to those with sardines – and, to follow, the catch of the day, served fried or grilled, with specialities such as ‘pesce alla cipollata’, a little house speciality. As it is very well-known and popular, it is advisable to book well in advance to secure a table.
