The luxe Mandarin Oriental stands in the heart of the 1st District, just a 5min walk from St Stephen's Cathedral. In addition to elegant rooms and suites, this listed Jugendstil building – formerly Vienna's Commercial Court – is home to this sophisticated brasserie. Beneath a striking atrium roof, polished stone tables without tablecloths are laid with high-quality tableware; everything is designed to be cohesive and chic, making for a stylish atmosphere. The pleasant service adds to the experience – the team is exceptionally polite, attentive and well-trained. The kitchen serves up contemporary French classics with international influences, with fish and shellfish playing a major role, for instance, "sea bream - ceviche, aguachile, Granny Smith, jalapeño", "classic bouillabaisse, rouille sauce, croutons" or "pan-fried scallops, potato mousseline, chicory, smoked butter".
