"Bonjour!" invariably rings out from the open kitchen as diners enter Le Philippe. Take in the Parisian boudoir decor and warm atmosphere, and for a moment you might feel as though you're in la douce France. The menu, too, is French, with Danny Vanderhoven's own take on bistro classics adding to the appeal. Hand-cut steak tartare with a piquant seasoning, or a rich sauce Dugléré accompanying cod cooked until just translucent and pommes dauphines: this is a relaxed setting for generous, honest cooking from an accomplished chef.
