Hosts Jakob Schmid and Daniel Reifecker form an owner-and-chef duo who clearly take great pleasure in their work. The creative surprise menu comprises four to seven courses, with examples including scallop with potato and cucumber, or char with beans and velouté. The dishes are pleasingly pared back yet full of flavour and finely balanced. A vegetarian version is available if ordered in advance. Excellent-quality ingredients are used, with a preference for regional sourcing. Service is friendly and adept, with the chefs themselves presenting some of the dishes. For pairings, there are wines, alcohol-free options or a combination of both. The excellent wine list highlights picks from Austria, Germany and France. Combining clean modern lines with warm, soothing tones, the interior is stylish and chic. The focal point is the open kitchen in the middle of the room, with the chef's table providing a special experience right at the heart of the action. In fine weather, there is also a terrace.
