In Zagreb’s liveliest and most visited quarter, this compact and well-managed restaurant makes an immediate statement upon entry: a wall entirely clad in plants and foliage, evoking Medvednica, the mountain massif to the north of the capital that inspires the cuisine within. Centred on local produce, predominantly organic, the offering is colourful and creative, designed to awaken the senses by exploring the full range of flavour – sweet, acidic, bitter and beyond. Two tasting menus of varying length are available; among the dishes not to be missed is the beef Wellington accompanied by a composition of seasonal local mushrooms. The sommelier is well placed to suggest interesting pairings with Croatian wines.
