Within a boutique country house hotel, this welcoming restaurant makes the most of its prime Lake District location with full-length windows overlooking the stunning countryside and the light shimmering off the water of Windermere. Inside, the cooking commands your attention as much as the view, with streamlined and technically skilled dishes that start with a superb central ingredient and gently enhance it without overcomplication. A prime example is the perfectly cooked monkfish topped with a scallop-stuffed courgette flower and finished with a mussel and vermouth sauce.
