For over 20 years, Geoffrey and Katherine Smeddle have run this whitewashed 18th-century inn. It’s bigger than you think and is divided into various rooms, which adds to the cosy but always buoyant atmosphere. The kitchen understands the importance of using the best ingredients and Scotland, its seasons and the local area are very evident on the plate, whether that’s through the girolles served with the wild halibut or the herb mousse that accompanies the local lamb. Stylish, split-level bedrooms are available, with breakfast served in your room.
