Dating back to the 18th century, this lovely sandstone inn sits in a picture-postcard village and has bags of charm once you step inside, mixing classic beams and exposed brick with some more contemporary touches. The chef-owner’s personality and experience shine through in flavourful dishes such as a rich duck liver parfait with cider jelly. The team also operate the next-door bakery, which provides excellent sourdough bread to kick off the meal. If you want to stay overnight, there are bedrooms in what was once the skittle alley.
