Located in Het Park and boasting a wonderful view of the Meuse River – the terrace is a must – this elegant Art Deco building is the ideal setting in which to be thoroughly spoiled. The spacious restaurant is supremely comfortable, with the open kitchen among its eye-catching features. Here you can watch Erik van Loo at work, a chef with a feel for classic finesse that comes through, for example, in a deeply flavoured sauce based on lobster bisque and enriched with saffron and Pernod, which elevates his well-known combination of Bresse chicken ravioli and langoustines. At Parkheuvel, it is the sauces that really blow diners away. The input of the chef's son Juliën brings even more detail and diversity, as well as a livelier approach to the ingredients. For instance, a dessert of wonderfully ripe cherries comes in various textures – as a compote and a tuile, or marinated in a rich rum-infused coulis – accompanied by a cream and a milkshake, both made with buttermilk and vanilla. The sommelier's expert recommendations and impressive wine collection are definitely the icing on the cake. Parkheuvel continues its tradition of fine dining with passion.
