In the shadow of the belltower of Hofstade church, Tobias Clocheret and Wim De Mulder have turned a former village cafe into a swish modern bistro with a flower-decked terrace. Chef Tobias’ up-to-date cooking is fascinating, spot-on and founded on top-drawer produce that he presents with great enthusiasm and attention to detail. For example, he might pair raw hamachi with smoked eel mousse, crunchy kohlrabi and a vibrant ponzu-laced dressing. Sommelier Wim can be relied upon to suggest insightful pairings to go with each dish. A polished elegant establishment in which food and wine vie for pride of place on the top of the bill.
