The picture windows of the dining room of this inn tucked away between Saint Etienne and Le Puy en Velay overlook a magnificent valley. Alexandre and Charlotte Roy, respectively from Le Puy and Marseille, seamlessly rustle up a spot-on score. Their gourmet repertory is invariably inspired by their orchards and hives and by their kitchen garden, that has grown year by year, together with a selection of mainly local ingredients: Arctic char cooked in wax from their hives, pleurote mushrooms from Saint Hostien and sorrel; beef from Haute Loire, carrot seasoning and stuffed morel mushrooms. A trolley of local cheeses and a fine wine cellar with a distinct fondness for local “Volcanic Loire and Ardèche” wines complete the picture.
