The website’s tagline rather surprisingly reads “This isn’t a restaurant”! Do not be fooled: the stylish 1928 edifice sports an elegant vintage interior depicted by period wooden mouldings, parquet flooring and a soothing green colour scheme. Chef Gino Lemmens’ exquisite plating showcases a score that pays tribute to the culinary legacies of Belgium and France (the set menu is more international than the à la carte lineup). Something of a virtuoso when it comes to sauces, Lemmens is also a fan of spices. An example of his knife-edged craftsmanship and subtle delicacy: tuna and foie gras strewn with furikake herbs and paired with grilled-leak stock infused with five cherry-picked pepper varieties. This Antwerp lad often finds time to chat with diners when he pops out from time to time to serve the food himself.
