Between Calvi and L'Île-Rousse – in the heart of Algajola and close to its pretty beach, a narrow lane leads to this welcoming restaurant with a decor best described as maximalist: cement tiles, old wooden floorboards, wood-panelled walls hung with mirrors, and mismatched furniture in all sorts of styles. A far cry from traditional Corsican fare, the generous and creative food features surprising combinations: ikejime amberjack tartare with black curry and pomegranate; Angus beef with Corsican black garlic, almond praline and pommes Anna. A few local ingredients also make an appearance – mussels from the Étang de Diana, honey from Lumio. A warm welcome.
