The only vestiges of this site's former vocation as a butcher's shop are the tiled walls and a few meat hooks. Now furnished with colourful velvet-upholstered seats and smart tables, the space is done out in a contemporary style; a table d'hôte is tucked away in the cellar. The chef, who hails from the town, cooks up modern cuisine, devising ever-changing surprise menus that offer excellent value for money at lunchtime. His dishes showcase the finest seasonal ingredients, sourced from Rungis market or a nearby organic farm. Mackerel and beetroot; Vendée poultry, chickpea and carrot stew; almond and hazelnut financier, figs, sweetcorn ice cream: healthy, colourful, flavourful and to-the-point cuisine.
