The climb up to around 600m above sea level is definitely worth it! A modern take on Bavarian tavern cuisine is the name of the game here. This encompasses delicious, beautifully prepared dishes that reflect the region's heritage while also showcasing international influences – for instance, "saddle of venison we hunted ourselves, with juniper jus" or "tonkotsu paitan ramen, seared pork belly, pickled egg, sweetcorn and edamame". Tip: the reasonably priced set menu ("Alpenmenü"), served Thu-Sat, featuring three or four courses including a starter, petit four, water and espresso. The well-stocked German and international wine list encompasses a fine selection, including half-bottles. Service is provided by a dedicated, cordial and attentive team. And you can soak up the wonderful, cosy "tavern" atmosphere and rustic charm in this meticulously renovated farmhouse with an abundance of wood, a charming historical decor and countless hunting trophies on the walls. The outdoor dining area planted with trees is also delightful. It's best to book in advance – Jagawirt is popular!
