L'avis du Guide Michelin
In the heart of Wachenheim, opposite the Kirche St. Georg, Bettina and Benjamin Peifer present their exciting concept. After snacks and an aperitif in Gud Stubb (the parlour in the former vicarage), you are introduced to their culinary philosophy in the pantry, before taking your seat for the set menu in the minimalist, urban-style restaurant. Sitting at the counter with a direct view into the kitchen makes for a special experience. Alternatively, there are small tables or koshitsu (separate nooks). The cuisine brings together Palatinate and Japanese influences in a distinctive way, as in the poached, charcoal-grilled lobster tail served with an intense dashi broth with sweet, aromatic Amela tomatoes and coriander oil, plus marinated fennel and ripe peach. Open fire cooking plays a major role, imparting wonderful roasted notes. Top tip: The wonderful, intensely flavoured Bienenstich (bee sting cake) certainly lives up to the restaurant's name. The front-of-house team is always on hand, and the chef often brings out dishes himself. Music adds to the convivial atmosphere. Hostess Bettina's wine, sake and alcohol-free drink recommendations always hit the mark. Two guestrooms are available for overnight stays.
