Well located above the road, this authentic grotto-like eatery boasts a huge car park. The bare stone walls keep the interior refreshingly cool in summertime, while a fireplace ensures it stays warm and cosy come winter. Outdoors, stone tables and benches invite diners to relax and enjoy their alfresco meal in peaceful surroundings, adorned in artwork by Guido Caminada. The generous, deftly crafted score is unsurprisingly traditional, albeit with a distinctive personal touch. Elegant plating and generous helpings shine the spotlight on cherry-picked seasonal produce. Among the culinary highlights are: tartare of venison with marrow bone au gratin and pear jelly, their best-selling house-made pasta, together with a splendid lineup of regional goodies, all of which flanked by nonna-approved staples of Italian cuisine. Other musts include artisanal ice creams and a well-curated and intriguing wine list. The cheerful, spot-on front-of-house team has a flair for making you feel at home.
