Located on the ground floor of a hotel (FC Los Cubos) opposite the Roman walls, it takes its name from a local breed of dog (Carea Leonés or Leonese shepherd) and is impressively run by Ana and Mario, a friendly couple who are keen to demonstrate the love they have for this region. Their contemporary cuisine comes courtesy of an à la carte and a tasting menu which are based around seasonal ingredients from León province but which always aim to add an element of surprise and interesting hints of fusion. One of Carea Bistró’s signature dishes is the delicious burrata with mangetout and a pistachio pesto.
