The handsomely dressed Cail Bruich – whose name means, appropriately enough, ‘to eat well’ – is one of those restaurants where you instantly feel that you’re going to be well looked after. Chef Lorna McNee and her on-view kitchen team clearly have the utmost respect for the quality of their ingredients and a great understanding of how to use them. Sauces are always a highlight of the beautifully balanced set menu, such as the port sauce that accompanies the Perthshire grouse. If you want to get up close to the action, ask to book the kitchen table.
