The Bunch of Grapes might be the oldest pub in this historic town but it now comes with an appealing modern edge and a counter selling freshly baked pastries, breads, biscuits and buns at the weekend. Downstairs has a pubby feel, while upstairs has more of a restaurant vibe. The modern British dishes are flamboyantly presented and deliver good flavours; for the best value, go for the pub classics, but to see the chefs' talents to the full, opt for one of the tasting menus. On Sundays, the roast lunch options include a lamb sharing platter for two.
