Opening its doors in 1980 and going on to become an institution in Amsterdam-Zuid is no mean feat. Yet this elegant, ever-inviting luxury brasserie, with its peaceful terrace at the rear, has done so with aplomb. That enduring success owes something to the excellent wine list, but equally to brasserie classics prepared with care and generosity. The silky steak tartare is understandably a crowd-pleaser, but the house-made ravioli filled with ricotta and peas, served with a beurre monté that brings a touch of bright acidity, are just as much a reason to visit. The menu may not be extensive, but it has everything you need to eat very well in this relaxed setting.
