An open kitchen sets the tone of this feelgood, family-run trattoria devoted to pleasure and “basta”! The bright, contemporary dining room is awash in soft dolce vita vibes and the garden terrace offers alfresco dining bliss when the weather is fine. Gianni Caruso allows his Sicilian heritage to run riot in dishes packed with exuberant flavours and a knockout set menu with choices. How about hand-crafted ravioli stuffed with finely chopped mushrooms and flanked by a tasty marsala-laced veal stock, or cannoli filled with lightly whipped ricotta cream and lemon zest? One thing is certain: the chef’s stellar knowhow and craftsmanship bring out the best of premium Mediterranean produce (the wine list is of the same calibre). Sheer, unadulterated pleasure is the name of the game at Basta!
