This striking half-timbered house, which cuts a romantic figure in the heart of Bad Überkingen, dates back to 1589. A pleasant couple run the small 20-seat restaurant with great dedication. He oversees the kitchen, devising a three- to five-course set menu grounded in the classics but peppered with international touches. Meanwhile, she brings a personal touch to the cordial service. Her South African roots are reflected in the wine list. There are also individual, lovingly designed guestrooms, making this a lovely place to stay – the cookbooks, which leaf through at your leisure, are a nice touch. Grill-Bistronomie is an alternative eatery to the restaurant.
